Besides us, there is still the operator of the social media platform itself. In this respect, they are another controller that carries out data processing who we only have limited influence over. In the areas in which we have influence and are able to parametrise the data processing, we work towards data protection compliant handling by the social media platform operator within the scope of the options available to us. In many areas, however, we are not able to influence the data processing by the social media platform operator and also do not know exactly what data they are processing.

Data processing by us

The data you enter on our social media pages such as comments, videos, pictures, likes, news etc. is published by the social media platform and, at no point, used or processed by us for any other purpose. We merely reserve the right to delete content if necessary. We may share your content on our pages if it is a function of the social media platform and communicate with you via the social media platform. The legal basis for this is Article 6(1)(1)(f) GDPR. This data processing is done in the interest of our public relations and communication.

If you would like to appeal a specific instance of data processing over which we have influence, please use the contact details shown in the masthead. We will then review your appeal.

If you submit an enquiry to us on the social media platform we may, depending on the required response, refer you to other, secure communication channels that guarantee confidentiality. It is always possible to send us confidential enquiries to the address shown in the masthead.

As already stated, we make sure to design our social media pages so that they are as data protection compliant as possible in areas where the provider of the social media platform allows us. In particular, we therefore refrain from using the demographic, interest-based, behaviour-based and location-based target group definitions that the social media platform operator provides us with for advertising. On the whole, we do not use the social media platform for advertising purposes. In terms of statistics that the social media platform provider makes available to us, we are only able to influence them to a limited extent and can also not disable them. We do ensure however that we aren’t provided with any additional optional statistics.

Data processing by the social media platform operator

The social media platform operator deploys web-tracking tools. Web tracking can take place regardless of whether you are logged in or registered on the social media platform. Unfortunately, as already shown, we are unable to have much influence on the social media platform’s use of web-tracking tools. For example, we are not able to disable them.

Please be aware: It cannot be guaranteed that the social media platform provider will not use your profile and behaviour data to analyse your habits, personal relationships and preferences among other things. In this sense, we have no influence over the processing of your data by the social media platform provider.

More detailed information about data processing by the social media platform provider as well as additional possibilities for appeal can be found in the provider’s data protection declaration:
