VIEROL is taking part in the global awareness campaign for people affected by ME/CFS.
13 May 2025On 12 May 2025, VIEROL took part in the global #LightUpTheNight4ME campaign to show solidarity with people suffering from ME/CFS (myalgic encephalomyelitis/chronic fatigue syndrome). To mark International ME/CFS Day, the VIEROL building in Oldenburg was lit up in blue light in the evening – along with numerous landmarks, buildings and offices around the world.
The campaign has a clear goal: to make ME/CFS visible.
ME/CFS is a severe neuroimmunological disease that is associated with chronic fatigue, pain, cognitive impairment and many other symptoms. It often leads to a high degree of physical disability – many sufferers are permanently unable to work or are even bedridden. Nevertheless, the disease is hardly known to the general public. There is a lack of research funding, medical knowledge and appropriate care.
With the lighting campaign, initiatives, organisations and supporters worldwide want to draw attention to this dramatic gap in care. The blue light is intended to sensitise passers-by and the media to the issue and make the often difficult realities of life for sufferers a little more visible.
Show solidarity – raise awareness!
As a company with a sense of social responsibility, it is important to us to be part of this movement. Taking part in #LightUpTheNight4ME was not only a symbolic sign for us, but also an expression of compassion and support. We hope that our participation has contributed a little to raising public awareness of this serious and often underestimated disease.
We would like to thank all those who made this campaign possible, as well as all those who support the interests of ME/CFS sufferers in their personal or professional lives.
