Originally, the warehouse that started operations in 2006 was designed for a ten-year period. But now after only four years it is already bursting at the seams.

Wahnbek - Thursday morning, just before nine. Jürgen R. Viertelhaus, founder and CEO of Vierol AG, is standing in the main section of the central warehouses in Wahnbek. In front of him, the morning shift stands in line. "I'm proud of you all", says Viertelhaus and shakes them all by the hand. High bay racking can be seen in the background. The boxes state Vietnam, United Arab Emirates, Moscow, Singapore or Australia as their destinations – and all the boxes say "Vierol AG Deutschland".

Record results in spite of the crisis

The workforce is just one of the reasons for the company's success – which is really respectable: "Even in the crisis year 2009, we generated the best results ever in the history of the firm", said the company founder. This was the seventh year in succession that Vierol AG posted record results.

Another guarantee of success is the range offered by the automotive supplier: "We specialize in products that play a vital role in keeping vehicles on the move", says Viertelhaus. What's more, the company operates meanwhile in 127 countries and is no longer dependent on how certain markets develop. As well as English, French and Spanish, some employees also speak Russian and Mandarin.

Didn't the company feel any effects of the banking and economic crisis? The trained export merchant waves the question aside. "I don't see a banking crisis. I only see companies with poor or good management". And all the well managed companies have come through the economic crisis without any major problems – just like Vierol AG: "We are one of the financially most successful family businesses in the branch."

Some stock already relocated

A statement brimming with self-confidence. And the company's achievements back up what the CEO says. Since it was founded in 1977 in Rastede, the company has enjoyed a rapid rise. In Oldenburg alone Vierol AG has a workforce of about 60 employees.

Another 40 work in the 6000 m² central warehouse in Wahnbek where operations began in 2006. But Viertelhaus is not so keen on talking about the past. The future is much more exciting, he says. Here too things are looking good. Vierol AG continues to expand. The central warehouse originally designed for a ten-year period is already too small. "We're bursting at the seams", says Viertelhaus. 25 percent of the stock has already had to be relocated.

Avowal to the location

This is why the warehouse is now being extended by a further 4000 square meters. According to Viertelhaus, this will cost more than €2 million. The company is also expanding in Oldenburg, with headquarters moving from Peterstraße to Karlstraße, to the tune of €5 million.
